Trekking on Berlin High Trail
The Berlin High Trail is a high alpine hiking tour, walking from hut to hut through the heart of the High Alpine Nature Park. A great way to discover the original landscapes of the Zillertal Alps and its majestic peaks including the Hochfeiler (3,509 m), Großer Möseler (3,478 m) and Olperer (3,476 m).
Working in conjunction with Mayrhofen Tourist Board, the Zillertal Alps Nature Park is offering trekking packages again this summer.
The Trekking Package includes:
- from 2 to 7 night stay incl. half board in the mountain huts (sleeping in a dormitory)
- both the Zillertal Mitte and West Alpine Association hiking maps
- the Natural History Guide "Ginzling - Alpingeschichte kurz und bündig",
- bus vouchers (to Ginzling, Stillupptal, Tuxertal, Brandberg) or optionally
Walking the entire Berlin High Trail from the Gamshütte near Finkenberg to the Karl-von-Edel-Hütte in Mayrhofen will necessitate 7 overnight stays.

The book of vouchers can be purchased direct from the office of Hochgebirgs Naturpark Zillertaler Alpen. It is possible to book from the comfort of your home and after payment has been received the documents will either be sent to you by post or deposited for your collection at the Naturpark office. You can also book once you are here in Mayrhofen and pay by cash. We are more than happy to help with making reservations for overnight stays at the moun-tain huts (individual rooms are also available on request for an additional fee).
The vouchers are valid for an entire season – depending on the weather, from around mid June to the end of September. It is possible to use the book of vouchers in stages spread over a whole season. For various reasons, however, it is NOT possible to carry them over in to the next year. The ideal time to walk the Berlin High Trail is from mid July to mid September.
Please note:
Not turning up for pre-reserved nights in a mountain hut will result in a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the total overnight costs for each mountain hut/lodge!
Walking the Berlin High Trail is suitable for everyone really. You should bring good walking shoes, hiking poles, endurance, stamina and certainly a little bit of hiking experience with you. It’s also beneficial to have a good head for heights – apart from that, no specialist climbing equipment or crampons are required. It is not necessary to carry a GPS device.
