NEW 3S Penkenbahn

As from 2015/16 winter season, Mayrhofen will be home to the most modern cable car concept in the world.

It's on! The building permit for the new Penkenbahn cable car has been agreed. Construction work at the Penkenbahn base terminal can now begin on 13th April.
Highest wind stability, low energy consumption and an outstandingly smooth ride will be the benefits assured by the new 3S Bahn. Double construction of the key operational components guarantee that the cabins will always arrive safely at their next terminal and that a rescue and recovery system will be no longer necessary for the new cable car. More information on the new Penkenbahn can be found on www.mayrhofner-bergbahnen.com.

MAYRHOFEN CAN LOOK FORWARD TO THE MOST ADVANCED CABLE CAR CONCEPT IN THE WORLD

The first step in creating the new and highly modern tri-cable, 3S cable car in short, for Action Mount Penken began in autumn 2014, with the construction of a new bridge in front of the base terminal of the lifts. At the end of the current winter season on 13th April, construction works will commence on the present location of the base station of the lifts in the middle of Mayrhofen. At the same time, huge tower supports and the mountain terminal of the lifts will be built. The current dual cable car system will be replaced by the most modern cable car concept on the market in time for the 2015/16 winter season.

The new Penkenbahn cable car combines an outstandingly smooth ride with incomparable views of the magnificent Zillertal Alps surrounding Mayrhofen. The 33 comfortable gondolas of the new Penkenbahn can seat 24 persons and have a conveyance capacity of up to 2,880 person per hour, banishing queues into a thing of the past - for both ascents and descents. Because when the "evening rush hour" comes around, there is additional standing room for another 8 persons per cabin. This increases the conveyance capacity to 3,840 persons per hour, thereby guaranteeing a fast and convenient descent back down to the valley.

Above all, in the event of a system standstill (technical defect, emergency, power failure)  the new Penkenbahn concept ensures that lift operations continue with two independent emergency drives. For this reason, new 3S Bahn requires no rescue and recovery system. Ski gear can be stowed away in spacious and comfortable depots in the mountain and valley terminals. Equipment hire, a shop and service facilities all ensure a superb skiing experience. Unencumbered, visitors can stroll down the high street or indulge in a spot of après ski.

ALWAYS UP TO DATE
