When the valley is steeped in beautiful autumn colours, the Hintertux Glacier - Austria"s only all year round ski resort 18 km away, is already under a blanket of irresistible virgin snow. The glacier is an imposing extension of the valley leading down from the majestic Olperer Peak (3.476m), that can be climbed with a mountain guide at any time.
Skiing enthusiasts will relish the 60 km of perfectly groomed pistes at the Hintertux Glacier and riders will find that the awesome Betterpark ticks all the right boxes.
Visitors can also take in stunning views from the Panorama Terrace, stretching over 100km and thousands of mountain peaks. The Hintertux Glacier offers disabled access from the base station at 1,500 metres above sea level right up to the Panorama Terrace at 3,250 metres.

Nature"s Ice Palace
at the Hintertux Glacier
The icy journey begins only 200 metres away from the highest point of the Hintertux Glacier.
A secure trail to the gates of the palace leads from the viewing platform at the Gefrorenen Wand (3.250 m), where stunning views of the mountains of Zillertal can be enjoyed. After a thorough equipment check (helmet, harness with 2 safety loops) the trail leads into this natural phenomenon.
The fascinating tour begins in the mystical glacial blue of the entrance area. To see the diversity of turquoise blue tones is an incredible experience in itself. Natural sunlight is all that is required to bathe the entire hall of ice in shades of blue - as this is the only colour that ice reflects.
