Cultural Landscapes at Mitterstall in Brandberg
The Zillertal Valley has always been dominated by cultural landscapes, created over centuries by man.
The Nature Park sees it as one of their key tasks to work on the conservation and upkeep of this rural heritage.
One of these alpine heritages is the Mitterstall, a former farm building used as a barn and feeding stall on the outskirts of Brandberg.
After renovation work to return the building to its' former glory was completed in 2010, Mittertall is home to the Nature Park Exhibition "Brandberg - Our Shifting Cultural Landscapes".
The exhibition is spread over three rooms and tells of the difficult conditions associated with alpine farming and allows the locals, especially, to speak for themselves.
A guided tour of the Mitterstall is also included in the Nature Park hike, "Hiking in the Sunny Village of Brandberg“.
