Schlegeisgrund in the change of time

Description

A side valley between nature and technology

The Schlegeisgrund has changed a lot due to the development of hydroelectric power. Today it is one of the top excursion destinations in the Zillertal. But where today at 1,800 m above sea level lies the azure-blue Schlegeis reservoir, there was until 1965 a species-rich alpine pasture with the popular Dominikushütte. The hike illuminates both the fascinating natural area, but also its transformation through the construction of the reservoir and the tourist use. The hike leads along the reservoir and to a great viewpoint in the Zamsergrund. Together with the hike, a guided tour of the dam wall is arranged for the participants of both groups after the respective tour.
