Climbing and bouldering are increasingly popular summer sports.
Originally launched in 2015 by the “Stonemonkeys Chillertal”, a local group of passionate climbers and boulderers, the Austria CLIMBING Festival will take place in Ginzling for the fifth time in 2019. This unique climbing event promises to offer climbing, bouldering, chilling and partying with a laid-back atmosphere in one of the coolest climbing area in the world.
A weekend of climbing!
A “boulder table” contest, a contest to collect climbing routes, sport climbing and bouldering, the “Clean the Valley Ralleye” and, returning for a third year, the “Monkey Challenge” – a triathlon of sports including speed climbing, running and paragliding. Action and excitement are guaranteed at this year’s Austria CLIMBING Festival in Ginzling.

Of course, the legendary afterclimbing parties will keep the festival vibe going strong into the evenings. Top regional musical acts such as the Cash Money Brothers, First Coming, and the masters of Zillertal dialect rock, CIELA will take to the stage to create the perfect atmosphere for climbers ready to party.
The climbers of the sport climbing club Stonemonkeys Chillertal are introducing a new contest to this year’s AUSTRIA CLIMBING FESTIVAL, which will take place on the 31st May and 1st June 2019.
On Saturday 1st June 2019, a contest will be fought to find the ZILLERTAL WARRIOR. A type of obstacle course, this event is based on the hugely successful American entertainment competition NINJA WARRIOR. Competitors will have to master 5 or 6 obstacle stations in a test of both skill and strength.
The fastest six competitors will be awarded a prize (with different categories for men and women) and will receive a cash prize from the event’s sponsor, the WINWIN Mayrhofen.
The club ““Stonemonkeys Chillertal“ are a group of passionate climbers, who enjoy conquering the climbing areas in the Ziller Valley, as well as promoting and maintaining them. The founder and chairman, Gerhard Hauser, likes to encourage well-known climbers to become members. World famous speed climbers the “Huber Buam” – Alexander and Thomas – as well as Prof. Peter Habeler are all honorary members of the club, which has existed for twenty years. However, the Stonemonkeys are also keen to make a social contribution and organise charity events to support families in need. Anyone can become a member of the Stonemonkeys! If haven’t yet climbed the many routes of the so-called Ewigen Jagdgründen, you definitely should! It is one of the most picturesque and diverse climbing areas in Tyrol. Regardless of your age or ability, the Ewigen Jagdgründe is a climbing paradise for all those who enjoy climbing on granite. Conquer the popular routes „Egon nein Danke“, „El Shupo“ or „Doby Surround“, plus a further 133 routes which range from a difficulty level of three to eleven.
