What are you looking forward to?

Winter is coming. In fact, it has already begun in the holiday region of Mayrhofen-Hippach. Heavy snow has fallen on the last two weekends and, whilst the valley is still mostly green, the higher villages such as Schwendberg, Brandberg and Ginzling are looking very wintery white.

What do you looking forward to?

Of course, this weather encourages feelings of excitement and anticipation of an amazing winter ahead. I interviewed our team to find out what they are most looking forward to this winter. The answers are – as I expected- very different. But, all of them require a hefty portion of snow!

“I’m looking forward to going skitouring. I especially love the mountains when they are untouched. My home village of Brandberg is the best place to start a skitour from. I hike up the Lahberg to enjoy the peace and tranquility and the amazing views of the Ziller Valley mountains. I am really looking forward to that.”

“When I sit in my office and look out of the window, I have a direct view towards the Action Mount Penken. I am looking forward to the first run of the season on perfectly groomed pistes and to many sunny hours spent on the mountain!”

“Firstly, I’m looking forward to the Mayrhofen Advent Festival. To drinking mulled wine with friends, enjoying the romantic pre-Christmas atmosphere, and standing around the open fires with my loved ones. My son loves snow and is very creative with it. We will definitely be building lots of snowmen in our garden again this year. I’m especially looking forward to that!”

“The first bluebird ski day with my friends! It does you good to leave the daily grind behind and fully unwind and relax. I try to get up the mountain at least one day every weekend – I need to top up with the energy I get from being in the nature for my office job”

“A winter without tobogganing isn’t winter for me! I am really looking forward to night tobogganing on the Gerlosstein and from the Tristenbachalm to Ginzling. It’s a great sport for using all your muscles, but it’s also so much fun! There’s nothing better than a hut evening with my best friends.”

So, come on winter, we all can’t wait for you to arrive!  Let us know what you are looking forward to this winter? We’d love to hear your creative answers!
