However, after being invited to take part in a sunrise photo shoot, I got bitten by the bug and was absolutely fascinated by the magic created everyday anew by nature, the tranquility found in the mountains and the energy they imbibe in me! I can't recommend this natural spectacle highly enough. How a new day awakes and you with it - to immerse oneself in, and become one with nature.
There are countless tours available in our holiday region. With this blog, I hope to cover as many types as possible. From easy to challenging, with and without climbing aids.
Leisure Mount Ahorn - Easy– 30 minutes (flat)
Mayrhofner Bergbahnen cable car company offers all sunrise hike novices a sunrise breakfast on Leisure Mount Ahorn in July and August. Every Thursday and for EUR 24.80, those interested can enjoy a mountain ascent with Austria's largest gondola, followed by a short walk to the Ahorn Plateau and a hearty breakfast in one of the nearby mountain huts (all included in the price).
A tip for sports enthusiasts:
That's not enough for you? No problem ;)
If you would like to enjoy a greater experience of the mountain on this day, you can also hike to the following spots:
- Filzenköpfl – 45 minutes
- Edel Hut – 1 hour
- Ahornspitze (Peak) – 3 hours
- Stillupptal – 2 hours
- 7-Schneideweg trail to the Kasseler Hut - 8 hours
Melchboden – Höhenstrasse (High Alpine Road) moderate – 1 hour
Gasthaus Melchboden is located at the highest point of the Zillertaler Höhenstrasse. There are parking facilities there, where you can leave your car. The trail towards Kreuzjoch and Rastkogelhütte starts at the car park,. You will reach the highest point after around 45 minutes. This little plateau seems somewhat unprepossessing, from where a small cairn lies to the east. If you make yourself comfortable there, it is truly the best place for your sun salutation ;)
Grüblspitze challenging – 2 hours
You need to head to the Tux Valley to get to the Grüblspitze Peak. Once in Juns, a road leads off towards the Junsbergalm. ATTENTION: you must park in front of the alpine farm (Alm). You will walk first along a gravel road to Junsbergalm, from where the hiking trail to Grüblspitze Peak begins.
What you must remember:
- Hiking poles
- Down jacket, hat & gloves
- Tea & a small snack
I hope you enjoy your sunrise hikes and that you have both impressive and memorable experiences.
