1. Sun terrace with a view at the Gasthaus Steinerkogl, Brandberg

The Steinerkogl towers over Mayrhofen like a majestic palace. Walking up from Mayrhofen will take around two hours. From Brandberg it’s just a 30 minute walk. However, in both cases, the incredible views over Mayrhofen, Finkenberg, the Penken and the Ahorn make the effort to get here well worth it. The sun shines here all day long. Relax and enjoy the perfect views whilst sunbathing!

2. Chill-out Area at the White Lounge, Leisure Mount Ahorn

Plenty of deck chairs, chill-out music, great service and amazing surroundings - that’s the chill-out area of the White Lounge on the Ahorn. The views include the magnificent Ahorn and Filzenköpfl peaks as well as the 3000m peaks of the Stillup valley. Enjoy this spot as part of your ski day or make a special visit to soak up the sun – life is good!

3. Gasthaus Roswitha, Hochschwendberg

At the Almhof Roswitha on the Hochschwendberg mountain, the sun is a star attraction even when its competing with the beautiful alpine landscape around the hut. However, when you are laying back, enjoying the warmth of the sun, don’t forget to open your eyes once in a while and take in the beauty of the surrounding mountains. It’s like living in a dream. Enjoy the tranquillity of nature with a cup of coffee and a slice of homemade cake, relax and unwind!

4. Penken Panorahma Restaurant, Action Mount Penken

Skiing in spring is a great experience, especially ‘early bird’ skiing. Being the first on the mountain is amazing: freshly groomed pistes let you carve like a pro. After making the most of the morning pistes, take the Knorren chairlift up to the Panorahma Restaurant for a well-earned rest. There you’ll find deckchairs with cosy blankets, a stunning panoramic view of the Zillertal Alps and all of the peace and tranquillity you need to recharge your battery. That’s the way to do springtime skiing!

5. Grillhofalm, Penken Park

For the best views of the pros jumping in the Penken Park, head to the Grillhofalm. You’ll find yourself in the midst of the action as the best of the best show what they can do. Choose between sitting at a table, or relaxing on a beanbag, sofa or ‘fatboy’. ‘Fatboys’ mould exactly to your body and, thanks to the special material they are filled with, feel warm even at low temperatures. Laid-back tunes complete your sunbathing experience.

So, hopefully our list has helped you discover your perfect sun terrace: be it in the ski area or in the remote nature, in perfect peace and quiet or to the beat of some funky music, with tranquil views or watching the action – you can decide what best suits your mood. If you’re one of the lucky ones to enjoy sunshine every day of your holiday, then try them all! You’ll find there’s something special about each and every one of the best sun terraces in the holiday region of Mayrhofen-Hippach!
