Mayrhofen has everything your heart desires
For Nick and Aisha from Edinburgh, Mayrhofen is no longer just a holiday destination but a home from home. For the past eight years they have been holidaying in the beautiful Tyrolean Ziller Valley – always in spring. “Between mid-March and April is the best time to come here – it’s the perfect compromise between summer and winter”, the pair agree. And there are plenty of great events happening. Whilst Aisha sleeps in after last night’s Snowbombing concert, Nick is already carving up the beautifully prepared pistes. They meet in the midday sun, to relax in deck chairs at the White Lounge on the Ahorn and listen to the chilled-out sound of the DJ.
Young people love the snow park
But it’s not just couples who flock to the Ziller Valley, there is also plenty on offer for single people. “After the long winter I love feeling the sun’s rays on my face. We always head to the Penken Park to watch the freestylers jumping off the kickers and maybe to flirt a little”, smiles Bernadette, who is already planning the next day of her holiday with her friend Nina.
More sport after your sport
The days are longer and the temperatures are rising. This means that, after a sunny day’s skiing, you still have time for a bike ride or to go jogging. Even in a short-sleeved t-shirt! Nina and Bernadette also lace up their trainers in the afternoon to check out the bars for an evening out. “We jog along the main street, past the bars and restaurants to decide where we will go out that evening. That’s our idea of après-ski!” says Nina. That’s just how a holiday in Mayrhofen should be!
