The winter season is fast approaching and we look forward to welcoming you to our region.

Based on recommendations by the trade association and requirements laid down by the Austrian government (as of 24.09.2020), Zillertal cable car operators have made careful preparations for the coming winter season.

Covid-19 Test for return journey

COVID-19 PCR test for your return journey every Friday at the Europahaus

The tyrolean laboratory Dr. Peter Obrist & Dr. Thomas Brunhuber (Zams) in cooperation  with Doz. Dr. Igor Theurl are offering molecular-biological COVID-19 testing (PCR test) for those visitors whose home country has issued a travel warning for Austria or Tyrol and who require a negative PCR test to return home without having to quarantine. The test is a PCR test using a rinse solution. The results are available 24 to 48 hours after the sample arrives in the laboratory and will be sent to you per SMS. The price per test is € 75,00.

IMPORTANT:
The test is only for visitors without symptoms who require a test before travelling home to a country which accepts the result of a PCR test carried out in Austria. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, please tell your accommodation provider.

FAQs

Face Masks

QUESTION:

What is an appropriate face covering?

 

ANSWER:

According to current directives, in addition to conventional face masks, multifunctional cloths, ski masks, buffs, etc. can be used as a face covering.  It is important that the mouth and nose are completely covered to prevent droplets from spreading when speaking, coughing and sneezing.

Bookings/Cancellations/Refunds

Question: 

What is the situation regarding bookings/cancellations/refunds if travel restrictions are introduced again because of Covid 19?


Answer:

Covid-19 related travel restrictions must prevent you to travel on your intended day of arrival and/or subsequent days, in order for you to be able to cancel your booking free of charge.

Here is an example: Your stay is booked from 27.12.2020-02.01.2021
In mid-November, the borders are closed until 01.01.2021. Free cancellation is possible.
In mid-November, the borders are closed until 15.12.2021. Free cancellation is not possible, as it is possible to arrive here again as from 16.12.2021.
Should a new lockdown come into force during your stay, the unconsumed days will be reimbursed.

Here is an excerpt from the Austrian Hotel Contract Conditions:

Prevention from arrival
5.7 If the Party is prevented from arriving at the accommodating establishment on the date of arrival since this is impossible due to unforeseeable extraordinary events (e.g. extreme snowfall, floods etc.), the Party shall not be obliged to pay the agreed remuneration for the date of arrival.

5.8 The obligation to pay the remuneration for the booked stay shall revive as soon as the arrival becomes possible again provided that it becomes possible within three days. .

TRAVEL INSURANCE

QUESTION:

How can I protect myself as best as possible under travel law when booking accommodation?
 

ANSWER:

We recommend taking out travel insurance for the coming winter season. Many of our accommodation providers offer Europäische Reiseversicherung (European Travel Insurance) when you make your reservation. This now covers Covid-19 illness, just like any other unexpected serious illness.

The data is updated weekly and is intended to make travel planning easier.

CATERING ESTABLISHMENTS

QUESTION:
Which regulations apply to restaurants?


ANSWER:
Catering establishments are currently allowed to keep their restaurants open for guests until 22.00 hrs. Guests are required to fill out a guest registration form in all restaurants for track and trace purposes. Mountain huts also count as restaurants.

Certain rules apply within all catering establishments:

  • Maintain at least 1 metre distance from other people outside your own visitor group
  • Employees must wear a face mask
  • Guests must wear a face mask when not seated in enclosed spaces
  • Food may only be served to people seated at tables
  • Reserve a table in advance if possible. Group reservations are also possible
  • A maximum of 10 people (plus children) may sit at one table
  • Use contactless or card payments whenever possible
  • Observe instructions issued by staff
  • Refrain from shaking hands or hugs
  • Observe hygiene requirements

Ski schools

QUESTION:
How are the ski courses regulated in winter 2020/21?

ANSWER:
The rules laid down in the COVID measures regulation apply:

  • A minimum of 1 metre distance to persons who do not live in the same household, and
  • obligatory face coverings in the customer areas of the skiing school.


In addition, the Austrian Association of Skiing Schools (ÖSSV) has created a practical manual for lessons given by skiing schools and snow sports instructors: Link to the manual for skiing schools


The recommendations include:

  • Maximum group sizes of 10 persons
  • Keeping the same groups
  • COVID-19 tests for skiing instructors – to this end the federal government will include skiing instructors in the Safe Hospitality testing programme
  • Additional hygiene measures

QUESTION:

What is happening with après-ski in Winter 2020/21?
 


ANSWER:

Après-ski will no longer exist in its present form in the winter of 2020/21, as it will be drastically restricted by legal regulations. Nevertheless, our guests will enjoy the new and emerging form of après-ski, which will undoubtedly be of superior quality than before. Details to follow!

Corona Testing on Holiday

QUESTION:

Can I get tested on site?
 

ANSWER:

Yes, Corona tests can be carried (for a fee) out on site in some medical practices.  These tests are exclusively for guests who are required to present a test result (e.g. to their employer) because of their stay in Austria.  

IMPORTANT: The person to be tested must be Corona symptom free when visiting the doctor’s surgery and register in advance!
