Palm Pretzel Recipe

Homemade Easter baking

Add a touch of variety to your everyday life and enjoy the Easter holidays with the ones you love. You might even want to try your hand at baking your own palm pretzels this year - in which case, we have a very, very tasty recipe for you. Ingredients:

  • 130 g milk

  • 20 g yeast

  • 70 g sugar

  • 450 g plain flour

  • 1.5 tsp salt

  • 2 egg yolks

  • 60 g softened butter

  • 100 g plain yoghurt

  • 1 tsp grated lemon peel

Method: Dissolve the yeast and sugar in lukewarm milk, add the remaining ingredients and knead into a smooth dough (knead thoroughly). Leave the dough to rise in a warm place for approx. 45 minutes and then knead well again. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees (top/bottom heat). Shape the dough into long thin strands and use them to make pretzels. As the dough rises a good deal in the oven, make sure the strands are very thin! Let the pretzels rest for another 10 minutes, brush with beaten egg and bake for around 10 to 15 minutes. Happy baking and BON APPETIT!
