Family via Ferrate

From Mayrhofen directly to the children's via Ferrate climbing route

A new children's/family via Ferrate is currently under construction that will complement the three existing via Ferrate routes in Mayrhofen. This family friendly route is particularly suitable for children (anchoring adjusted to child height) and alternates between classic Ferrate terrain (rock faces and walking sections) and interesting high rope course elements. The high rope elements demand both courage and dexterity. They can, however, be avoided as the via Ferrate runs parallel to the walking trail to Gasthof Zimmereben.

  • Target group: parents with children taller than 120cm
  • Level of difficulty: up to maximum category B via Ferrate. High rope elements that require a little courage, strength and skill - but these can be bypassed.
  • Takes: 1.5 – 2h
  • Altitude difference: 200hm
  • Cable length: 500m
  • Starting point: Ferrate car park in Mayrhofen. Starts at the same entrance to the Huterlaner via Ferrate. After the first cross section, the new and blue marked via Ferrate route leads off to the left.

Equipment needed

Climbing belt and via Ferrate set, helmet, suitable footwear, climbing gloves when needed. Climbing sets can be hired for a small fee at the base of the via Ferrate entrance area.
