cattle drive cancelled in Mayrhofen
In keeping with tradition, the ”Almabtrieb“ cattle drive takes place every year on the 1st Saturday in October. Due to this year’s events, however, Mayrhofen Tourist Board has decided to cancel the ”Huamfohra – Almabtrieb Cattle Drive in Mayrhofen“ on 3rd October 2020.
The ”Almabtrieb“ cattle drive in Mayrhofen has enjoyed great popularity for many years. Around 20,000 visitors travel to the Mayrhofen-Hippach holiday region to celebrate the safe homecoming of the farmers and their cattle after months of summer grazing on high alpine pastures.
After extensive discussions, Mayrhofen Tourist Board has decided to cancel the “Almabtrieb” cattle drive this year, as it would be nigh-on impossible for the organisers and visitors alike to adhere to current social distancing regulations at an event with several thousand attendees. The Tourist Board considers it their duty to focus on the safety of all and regrets having to make this decision, especially because the Almabtrieb is an integral part of local tradition in the Zillertal Valley.
It should be noted that this cancellation also affects the organised shuttle service, Farmer’s Market and traditional procession. Ticket already purchased in 2020 event will remain valid for the 2021 event, or can be cancelled free of charge at Mayrhofen tourist information offices or using the myZillertal.app.
Next year’s ”Almabtrieb“ cattle drive will take place in Mayrhofen on Saturday, 2nd October 2021.
