Out and about in the realm of stone pine and nutcrackers
Description
Pleasure tour through the forest and alpine pasture region in the Tux Valley
We start at the Tux Center in Lanersbach and hike over the Klausboden up to the Loschbodenalm (1,710 m), which lies at the foot of the mighty Höllenstein. In the Swiss stone pine forest, we now hear the typical call of the nutcracker, which hides the Swiss stone pine nuts in summer as a supply for the winter and - after it can no longer find them all - spreads the seeds for the new tree growth up to the rocky region. With beautiful views of the Tux Alps and the head of the valley, the trail continues to Tapeneck (1,903 m), the highest point of the hike. From here, it's a leisurely descent to the Grieralm (1,787 m), where we stop for refreshments at a cozy and scenic stop. We then hike back down into the valley along the forest path.
