Pfarrkirche Mayrhofen
Description
As early as the 14th century, perhaps even earlier, there was a small church in Mayrhofen. In any case, it is known that at the end of the 14th century a fire destroyed the small church. Auxiliary priests from the Zell parish came on Sundays and holidays to hold services there. The name "Maierhof" appears for the first time in documents in 1309. The oldest parishes in the Ziller Valley are Zell and Fügen; since Boniface (around 740), the Ziller has been the border between the Archdiocese of Salzburg and the Diocese of Brixen (now the Diocese of Innsbruck).
