Here are some particularly beautiful autumn hiking tours in Zillertal:

COLOURFUL DIVERSITY AT PFITSCHER JOCH This hike starts at Schlegeis Reservoir, which can be reached by public bus or car (toll-fee) from Mayrhofen via Ginzling. Right from the start of the tour, you are presented with a magnificent display of colour: the turquiose waters of the reservoir, combined with the white glacier and the wonderfully vibrant leaves of the forests abound. Although you are in high alpine terrain, the hiking trail with large stone slabs and easy steps is easily negotiable for the whole family. It takes around one and a half hours to walk uphill alongside rushing waterfalls to the Lavitzalm at 2,090 metres, from where you will need another half an hour to reach Pfitscher Joch, where you can enjoy fabulous views of South Tyrol. After a taking a welcome break at Pfitscherjochhaus, follow the same route back to your original starting point. <<<Go to route

PLEASE NOTE: Many of the huts and alpine farms, especially those above 1,500 metres above sea level, have already ended their season in October. Make sure you pack enough provisions, in case your desired stop is already closed. Bread and butter, small snacks such as nuts or dried fruit are particularly suitable for supplying the body with sufficient energy in the cooler season. We also recommend that you take a thermos of tea as well as plenty of water. This will keep you warm during longer breaks or during your descent.
Treat your feet to a little post-hike-break

The indoor pool and sauna facilities at Erlebnisbad Mayrhofen Leisure Pool are the perfect place to warm up and replenish flagging energy levels in time for your next tour.
