The little mountain village of Ginzling lies at 1,000 metres above sea level in the midst of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park. Mountaineering pioneers journeyed here to conquer the peaks of the Zillertal Alps 150 years ago. After hearing their enthusiastic reports, increasing numbers of climbing enthusiasts flocked to the area and the small settlement grew into a sizeable village. Working in conjunction with the Nature Park, the village has come up with a special Geocache Trail to explore the alpine history of the local area.   Equipped with a GPS device and some lively curiosity, you have the opportunity to discover the treasure and interesting information on the alpine history of this mountaineering village. Great emphasis was placed on the Nature Park's concept of sustainability whilst implementing the project.

Geocache Ginzling - it all started with mountaineering:

  • includes eight stations

  • takes around 2 h (1h of walking)

  • just as exciting for beginners as it is for those with experience

  • details can be found on www.geocaching.com or find out more for free at the Nature Park House in Ginzling

  • GPS device rental: on request from the Nature Park House - costs € 3,-- per device
