On more than 372 square kilometers, you will find both easy and challenging hikes that provide incredible views of the surrounding mountains. You won’t go hungry here in the mountains either. Numerous huts and mountain restaurants invite you to take a break, grab a drink, and enjoy some delicious food from the region.
Leisure Mountain Ahorn is the gateway to the Zillertal Alps High Alpine Nature Park, which covers 422 km², starting at 1,000 meters above sea level at the mountaineering town of Ginzling and reaching up to 3,509 meters above sea level at the summit of Hochfeiler. In summer, the Zillertal Alps High Alpine Nature Park team offers a comprehensive hiking and active program. HIKING ON MOUNT AHORN
TIP: HIKER'S GONDOLA Daily from June until end of September, early birds and anyone planning to spend a long day in the mountains can ride the AhornBahn, Austria's largest gondola, up to the AhornPlateau as early as 07.30 a.m.! Be sure to take advantage of this unique opportunity to enjoy the early morning calm on Leisure Mountain Ahorn.
LeisureTrail Ahorn
The Leisure Trail, which is suitable for baby buggies, covers the entire AhornPlateau and provides valuable information about the varied flora and fauna of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park Zillertaler Alpen. You’ll also be treated to incredible panoramas and views at our Eagle’s View, Zillertal, Stilluptal, and Filzenalm Viewing Platforms, discover the FalknerOase or you can sit back and relax at the Leisure Square in front of the Ahornbahn mountain station or at one of several rest places.
NEW: AlbertAdler AdventureTrail
This summer will see the new AlbertAdler AdventureTrail being completed. Embark on this journey and discover the story surrounding "AlbertAdler and the Battle of Mayrhofen", together with our mascot, AlbertAdler. Discover various interactive stations that will delight visitors of every age. At the end of the tour, the newly created "FalkenSteig" trail with the panoramic "GreifenBrücke" bridge awaits before you return to the starting point of the tour at the Ahornbahn mountain station.
HikingTrail Filzenkogel
The HikingTrail Filzenkogel gives all summiteers a perfect opportunity to take in the impressive scenery and record their names in the summit log. The round trip takes about 2 hours. Tip: Lake AhornSee offers many places to relax after your mountain tour.
Alpine FarmingTrail
Info stations along our Alpine Farming Trail leading to the Filzenalm provide you with some insight into the history of this mountain hut: How was the hut managed in the past and what were the main challenges that had to be overcome? At the Filzenalm, the ViewingPlatform Filzenalm also awaits you with fantastic views of the Stilluptal.

Panorama Trail Penken
The PanoramaTrail on Mount Penken is suitable for baby buggies and takes you from the Kombibahn Penken mountain station up to the Penkenjoch and down to the Penkenbahn mountain station. The trail leads past several places where you can see athletes in action. For example, you can watch daring climbers scaling rock faces at the Knorren Massif or observe real adrenalin junkies taking off at the two paragliding launch sites. There are also various lookouts that provide a close-up view of the mountains in Mayrhofen.
Tip: Plan to stop at the FunSportStation to try out the Mountain Scooters, E-Trial Parcours, MotorSkills Parcours and a Mountain Playground for an entertaining alternative to hiking!
BergWaldWeg on Mount Penken
Hike from the Penkenbahn mountain station to the middle station of the Finkenberger Almbahnen. Along the new created BergWaldWeg you can enjoy the idyllic landscape and the wonderful views of Mount Ahorn and Stilluptal opposite. Duration: about 1,5 hours (4,7 km) Our tip: Take the Finkenberger Almbahn up to the Penkenjoch and take the PanoramaHikingPath Penken back to the Kombibahn Penken, which takes you back to the Penkenbahn.
