Granatalm

This sunny plateau at Penkenjoch is well worth visiting, in both summer and winter. Hikers are presented with a variety of interesting destinations and the “Garnet Chapel” near the reservoir is only a few minutes away. Pleasures of the palate are perfectly provided for, ranging from a mountain breakfast, to savoury delicacies and homemade cakes – we pamper your taste buds with freshly prepared local products. Ride up with the Finkenberger Almbahn lifts to access Christa’s Skialm. Sport lovers can enjoy a mountain bike tour on the Penkenjoch. TIP: Pepi's Playground right outside the Granatalm, with a giant slide, trampoline, labyrinth, balancing bars and many other attractions.

Furtschaglhaus

Furtschaglhaus is a family friendly mountain refuge hut in the Zillertal Alps at 2,295m above sea level. It is accessible via a 2.5 uphill walk from the Schlegeis Reservoir through picturesque landscapes. The sun terrace with views of Zillertal’s highest peaks invites you to linger. The hut can accommodate 120 overnight guests, who can look forward to a warm dining room and a well heated drying room. Furtschaglhaus is the starting point for tours to many of the surrounding three thousand metre peaks.

Berghotel Gerlosstein

This family run mountain hotel features a sun terrace with breath-taking views of the entire Zillertal Valley. Hungry hikers are well catered for with homemade specialities, cakes and salad from our own garden. A children’s playground entices the little ones to play and explore. The mountain hotel is accessible using the Ramsberg lift, Gerlossteinbahn cable car, or on foot from Hainzenberg. Greizerhütte

2.227 m The Greizer Hut is an alpine refuge hut with a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere that offers inviting accommodation in inimitable mountain hut style. It is managed by Irmi and Herbert Schneeberger from mid-June to the beginning of October (weather permitting) and is equipped with 16 rooms and 72 dormitory beds, 14 of which are housed in a separate winter hut. Visitors especially appreciate the original alpine lodge atmosphere. In keeping with the „So schmecken die Berge – That’s what mountains taste like“ motto, meals are created here using delicious, local produce.

Waxeggalm

In the romantic Zemm Valley, in the most idyllic surroundings, lies the Waxeggalm; a gem in the crown of the Ziller Valley mountains.  It is a special spot for relaxation, and rejuvenation where you can find true contentment. The best homemade cakes and Austrian specialities are served up personally by the landlords, Ottilie and Alfred. Every guest is made to feel very welcome at the Waxeggalm. Be inspired by the views of the surrounding 3000m+ mountains and enjoy life to the full - at the Waxeggalm in the Zemm Valley.

Einkehr s'Raschtl

1.805 m s‘Raschtl Retreat is located directly at the crest of the Schlegeis Reservoir dam and serves as a base camp and information point for all activities at #SCHLEGEIS131, whilst offering food, drinks and delicacies that make time spent winding down here after a wonderful day at the Schlegeis Reservoir particularly pleasant. Savour the unique panoramic view and warm hospitality.

Olpererhütte

2.389m The Olperer Hut belongs to Neumarkt Alpine Club and lies at 2,389 metres above sea level. From the Schlegeis Reservoir, it is a 1 ½ hour walk along a marked hiking trail. Situated in one of the most beautiful spots in the Zillertal Alps Nature Park, it enjoys incredible views over the three highest peaks in the valley. The south-facing position means you can enjoy the sun all day long (on good weather days, of course) whilst being pampered with local specialities, created using mainly local products. The Olperer Hut offers overnight accommodation for up to 72 hikers, in either rooms or dormitories.

Tristenbachalm

1.200m Warm and friendly hospitality is offered by the Klausner Family at the Tristenbachalm, where there is room for up to 90 people on the sun terrace. Guests can look forward to two comfortable lounges and the former barn is the ideal venue for all kinds of events and celebrations. Flagging energy levels are revived with great home-cooked food and lovingly prepared Zillertal specialities. The convenient location and easy accessibility means it is the perfect destination for visitors of all ages. The alpine farm is surrounded by meadows, streams and diverse flora and fauna: perfect to play and explore.

Gasthaus Zimmereben

Gasthaus Zimmereben is located at the exit area of the three Mayrhofen via Ferrate climbing routes and can be accessed on foot, either via one of the two hiking trails, or one of the via Ferrate. From the terrace, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Mayrhofen-Hippach region. A lovingly designed play area for all children is located right next to the hut. Local produce is primarily used for the delicious meals and those with a sweet tooth can look forward to “Kaiserschmarrn” and homemade cakes.

Pfitscherjoch Haus

2.276 m  Pfitscherjoch Haus lies at 2,276 m above sea level in the Zillertal Alps, directly on the border between Austria and Italy. The oldest privately owned mountain refuge hut in South Tyrol is now managed by the 6th generation of the Volgger Family. Pfitscherjoch Haus is a comfortable ca. 2 hour walk away from Schlegeis Reservoir, along a pleasant hiking trail that takes walkers past thundering waterfalls and a sparse mountain forest of pine and larch. The mountain hut can comfortably accommodate up to 60 persons in lovingly furnished rooms with shower and WC, as well as hiker’s dormitories.

Alpengasthaus Dominikushütte

1.805 m The Dominikus Hut lies at 1,805 m above sea level, just above the car park of the Schlegeis Dam. Here, you can sit back and enjoy magnificent views of the Schlegeis Reservoir, the Schlegeis Glacier and the highest peaks of the Zillertal Alps whilst being served Tyrolean specialities on the sun terrace or in the restaurant. Pleasant rooms and a hiker’s dormitory are available for overnight stays. The family-run business is characterised by its friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
