Description
Fascinating Experiments on the Formation of the Alps
Why do the Earth’s continents move, and how did the Alps—a high mountain range in the heart of Europe—come into being? Through simple experiments, we’ll explore the world beneath our feet. We’ll begin the workshop with a journey back in time to when the Earth was home to only the supercontinent Pangaea. Using a puzzle, we’ll let the continents drift, recreate the ice ages, and then explore them in the “Hidden Treasures” exhibition at the Ice Age Wheel. We’ll learn how crystals form and why we need them in our daily lives. After a walk to the Zemmbach, we’ll polish stones with sponges, which we’ll take home as a nice souvenir. Ideal for children ages 8 to 11.
