Kapelle Laimach

Description

The Chapel of Laimach

is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and was built in 1741. It has a small high altar with a painting of the Madonna of the Trinity (circa 1750) and a side altar with statues of St. Joseph and St. Isidore and two late Gothic bishop figures (circa 1500).

In Laimach, the "Strasserhäusl," the old home of the national singing family Strasser, is a well-preserved, entirely wooden Zillertal farmhouse from the 18th century. This singing family helped spread the song "Silent Night, Holy Night" on their travels (see excerpt from a brochure by Emil Koschak below).
